Valera E. Thorpe Valera E. Thorpe, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Last employed by PMA Insurance Companies of Blue Bell, Pa for the past several years. A 1979 graduate of Chichester High School and Senior Class Vice President; 1984 graduate of Towson State University. Survivors: 2 nephews whom she raised: Spencer Thorpe and Jamaal Cooper. 2 goddaughters: Shovalyah Walker, Taia West. Mother, Rachel Thorpe; 8 brothers, Delbert (Phyllis), Keith, Vernell, Bruce, James (Karlieta), Darrell, Thomas (Phancia), Kenneth, Sr., 3 sisters, Rev. Frances Benson, Cecelia White, Cheryl Thorpe, 1 aunt Thedress Thorpe. An abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Deceased Family Members: Father, William R. Thorpe, 3 sisters Roberta (3/7/2014), Karen, Helena, 1 brother-in-law Carl Benson, 1 sister-in-law Rotha Davis Thorpe. Visitors welcome at family homestead in Twin oaks, Pa. between 1-5 p.m. is preferred. Funeral Service: Friday, April 4, 2014 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke Community Christian Church, 4th Street & Central Ave., Chester, Pa. Viewing: 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. No viewing after the eulogy.
