Deacon Oscar R. Newsome "Uncle Huss", age 73 Deacon Oscar R. Newsome "Uncle Huss", age 73, of Chester, Pa., surrendered to the will of the Lord on April 4, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Deacon Newsome was born in Chester, Pa. to the late Oscar Newsome and Estella Thomas Newsome and was educated in the public schools. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang on the male chorus. Deacon Newsome worked as a capper mechanic for Teledyne Wirz. In addition to his parents, Deacon Newsome was also predeceased by his grandson Leo Bowers. Survivors: His wonderful memory will be forever cherished by his wife Marlene Stevenson Newsome, 5 children: James Stevenson, Arlene Hunter (Tyderrol), Marva Newsome (Leroy), Donald Newsome, and Terry Newsome, 2 sisters - Bernice Germany, and Idora Harper, 3 brothers - Gerome Newsome (Stephanie), Clifford Newsome, and Robert T. Jeffers (Carolyn), 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, host of other relatives and friends. Service: Friday, April 11, 2014 10:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 1100 W. 2nd St., Chester. Viewing: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. No viewing after the eulogy. Interment: Haven Memorial Cemetery - Chester Township Arrangements: Earl L.
