Jean Menditto Obituary
Jean Menditto Jean Menditto (nee Vanuni-Esposito), 89, passed peacefully on May 31, 2014 at her home in Springfield, PA. Born in Reading, PA, she moved to Philadelphia in 1946 when she married her beloved husband John. In 1970, Jean moved to California with her family, returning to the area 42 years ago and settled in Springfield. Jean was a devoted wife and loving mother. A consummate homemaker she lovingly welcomed family and friends into the home she took so much pride in, and where so many shared countless meals, laughter and love. John and Jean owned a local family greenhouse business. Self-taught, they raised thousands of azaleas, for which they were well-known. They travelled to many Naval reunions and church conferences around the country. Many years a member of Tacony Baptist Church, she served as a Deaconess and sang in the choir. Her faith sustained her and she shared her love of Jesus with her family. She loved unconditionally and served even those who hurt her. She continued to serve with her love even after she became physically disabled. She accepted her fate in life, never once complained, became negative, critical, or judgmental. Jean Menditto was a great example of a true human being. We were so blessed to have had her in our lives. She may have gone ahead of us, but she will forever live in us. Survivors: She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John Menditto, a son, John Menditto, two daughters, Regina Frances Amos and Karen Jean Menditto. Jean was the oldest of eight children and is survived by a sister, Ruth Gehris, and 3 brothers, Elias, David, and Richard Esposito, as well as 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jean's life on Monday, June 9. The Viewing will begin at 9:00AM. The service commences at 10:30AM at Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc., 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. www.kovacsfuneralhomeinc.com
