Edward R. Germer Obituary
Edward R. Germer, 83 Edward R. Germer, 83, of Elizabethtown died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born and raised in Folcroft, PA, he was a lifelong Delaware County resident but had recently lived in Chester before moving to the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown in 2012. Mr. Germer was a graduate of Sharon Hill High School, class of 1949 and earned a BA in Administration and an MS in Education from Temple University. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he flew B-29 bombers in the Japanese Theater of Operations and was an E-7 MSgt in the PA Air National Guard where he served for 42 years. Mr. Germer was employed by CXS Railroad as a clerk for over 40 years before retiring in 1999. Mr. Germer was a Past Master of Melita Lodge of F & A Masons#295, the Past Secretary of Melita for 16 years and was a dual member at St. Albain-Swain Lodge # 529. He was an active member in the Masons, Joppa - 46 Council Blue Lodge Chapter where he held many positions including High Priest, Tri Illustris Master, Commander of Knights Templar and Knights Cross of Honor of Right, Worthy Master of Loyal Orange Order Institution of USA, and State Grand Master. He was a member of Toastmasters International, Inc. and the First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden. Mr. Germer was the brother of the late Ethel Kleinz and Edgar H. Germer. Survivors: Include his nieces Donna (Edward) O'Lone and Martha (Robert) Eller and dear friend William Grayson.
