Frederick J. Orsini Frederick J. Orsini, Longtime Delaware County resident, passed away on July 16, 2014 at the age of 94. He was active until the last week of his life. He was born in Perryville, MD in 1919 to parents Thomas and Anna Orsini. In 1936 he was awarded the American Legion Medal from Franklin School and a 1940 graduate of St. Roberts HS. Played football for both Chester High and St. Robert's , and was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. Fred was very active in the Chester Central Little League serving as President for four years.. He retired from Sun Ship in 1981 with 25 years of service. He was a member of the local 802 Boilermakers serving both as a union steward and trustee. A veteran of WWII, serving as a Corporal in the 50th Armored Infantry Battalion, Company K, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division. Specifically serving in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne. He was honored with a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. The family would like to thank Dr Robert Centrone for the care he provided along with the Doctors and Staff of Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media PA. Especially the nurses of the ICU, PCU and 4th Central floors. Survivors: He is survived by the mother of his five children, Louise (Haywood) Orsini, children, Thomas Orsini & wife Vicky of NJ, Susan F. Baiocco & husband Emil of Fl, Claire E.Orsini of Pa, Nancy Mills & husband Clifford of NJ, and Cheryl A. Orsini of NY, He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Amy Vandergrift, JV Vandergrift, Kristina Till, Thomas Orsini, Nicole Gandy, Jennifer Baiocco, David Mills, and Tammy Dement. 13 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Morris & Marissa Till, Mitchell, Walker & Colby Gandy, Ava Vandergrift, Sam & Abby Vandergrift, Amanda, Kristen & Brooke Mills, and Jerry Dement. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mafalda Angelini and Sophie Calvarese, and brothers Earl and Joseph Orsini. Service: A private memorial service will be held for family only. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial donations: May be sent to the at www.diabetes.org.
