Albert "Al" Merlino Founder of American Legion Post #94, Brookhaven Albert "Al" Merlino. Died on November 17, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Brookhaven. Al resided in Brookhaven for 47 years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked at both the Chester and Lenni offices. Albert founded American Legion Post #94 in Brookhaven. He served as a Merchant Marine during WWII in the United States Coast Guard and in the United States Army during the Korean War. Al was a parishioner of Our Lady of Charity Church in Brookhaven and a former parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chester. He was the son of the late Alexander and Jennie (Ferrente) Merlino and brother of the late Mary Gill. Survivors: 3 sisters Gloria Merlino and Louise deVirgilio of Brookhaven and Lillian Cosenza of Ridley Park; numerous nieces and nephews Service: Funeral Mass Saturday 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven. Burial: Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood. Visitation: Saturday 9:15 to 10:15 AM at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven, PA.
