Cosimo D. "‘Sam’" Ferrainola Obituary
Cosimo D. "Sam" Ferrainola, age 79, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 19, 2011 at his home in Garnet Valley.
Cosimo was born and raised in Pittsburgh, where he graduated from Peabody High School in 1949. He was an accomplished student athlete; Sam was a 4 star letterman and captain on many of the school teams, class president and was well known for writing the School Alma Mater which still exists today.
Cosimo graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and later became a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School Of Social Work. He earned a Doctorate degree at the University of Lüneburg, Germany. After which, Sam served as the Executive Director for 32 years beginning in 1975 at the Glen Mills School.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Ferrainola and husband of the late Gerda (Schaeffer) Ferrainola who died in 2009. He was the father of the late James A. Ferrainola.

Funeral Service: Wednesday at 3:00pm at the Nolan - Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston
BURIAL: Private
VISITATION: Wednesday from 1:00 - 2:45pm at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Salvation Army.
