Thomas J. Gaval, 83 Devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather Thomas J. Gaval, 83, of Glen Mills, died January 6, 2012 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Born in Mahonoy City, PA, Mr. Gaval lived in Ridley Park prior to moving to his late residence 11 years ago. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was most recently employed as a driver for Community Transit, previously working at Sealtest Dairies. Mr. Gaval was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and loved bowling, traveling, dancing and was known as a gourmet cook. Most important was his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was son of the late John F. and Helen E. Rapach Gaval and brother of the late Lee Turney and Sylvia Jones. Survivors: His wife of 58 years Eleanor C. Fillinich Gaval; father of Thomas J. Gaval (Kathleen), Teresa M. McNichol (Francis) and Suzanne M. Snow (Brian); brother of Marie Lucci, John C. Gaval and Nancy Slobodjian; grandfather of Matthew, Kelly, Sean, Jacqueline, Evan and Dana. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Chester Heights, PA. Visitation 9:30 to 10:15 AM Thursday at the church.
