Zachary Paul Kramer Obituary
Zachary Paul Kramer, 57 , passed away peacefully at his farmhouse in Earlville, New York, on July 1, 2012, following a brave and determined battle with cancer. Paul was born on December 17, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, to Elwood and the late Ilva Kramer. He was the second of five siblings in a family that included countless foster siblings, friends and pets. Paul grew up in Wallingford, PA and lived in New Jersey and New York City before finally settling in at the 8-acre farm in upstate Earlville, NY that he called "heaven." Paul graduated from Nether Providence High School in 1972. He received a B.A. in Social Studies from Lynchburg College in 1976 and a Masters of Science in Teaching from Fordham University in 2006. A lifelong educator and skilled teacher, he served as the Director of the Children's Education Center in Upland, PA from 1979 to 2002. He also taught in the NJ and DE school systems. From 2002 to 2011, he served as a special education teacher at New York City Middle Schools 44 and 328 in Manhattan. He was adored by his students and highly regarded by his colleagues. He took great pride in the impact that he had on the lives of so many young people. Paul, or Zach to his many friends, was generous, compassionate, and fun-loving and he loved teaching, boating, farming and a good practical joke. In 1980, on a dare, he tried out and became the first male cheerleader in Philadelphia Eagles' history. He was devoted to his family, friends and pets, and they loved him in return. Survivors: His father Elwood Kramer and wife Carol of Clermont, FL; brother Ray Kramer and wife Suchada of New York City; sister Cynthia Miller and husband Larry of Bryn Mawr, PA; sister Terry Hocker and partner Richard Mebert of Middletown, PA; sister Tina Miller and husband Robert of North Wales, PA; many nieces and nephews; and cherished ones Kelvin, the General, Petie, and Pepper. In celebration of Paul's life, a summer barbecue in his honor will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the family home at 740 W. Brookhaven Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086. Friends and family are invited and are encouraged to bring pictures, stories, and remembrances to share. Contact sister Terry at tique012002@yahoo.com or 610-892-7308 for details.
