Roy A. Banks Obituary
Capt. Roy A. Banks, 87 Capt. Roy A. Banks, 87, of Aldan, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles and Flo Banks. He was also predeceased by his wife, Levinia N. (nee Nuttle), and sisters, Phyllis West and Grace Scott. Roy was a tug boat captain and the owner of Banks Towing Line. Roy loved the Lord. He was a very active, longtime member of the Glenolden Congregational Church, where he served as head of deacons for many years. Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends and he loved his Wawa coffee. Survivors: His stepchildren, Robert (Lillian) Weiss, and Tamara Kilpatrick; nephews, Gerald (Carol) West, Donald (Lynn) West, Ken (Rosita) Scott; nieces, Nancy Elson, and Ellen Scott. He is also survived by step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and several great-nieces and nephews. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m. and Friday, 10-11 a.m., at Marvil Funeral Home, 1110 Main Street, Darby, PA, where there will be a Funeral Service 11 a.m., Friday. Interment: Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers: Contributions to Glenolden Congregational Church, 115 S. Scott Ave., Glenolden, PA 19036, would be appreciated by the family.
