Lawrence W. Ryback

Lawrence W. Ryback, 89 Of Glenolden and formerly "the Meadows" Lawrence W. Ryback, 89, of Glenolden passed away on September 24th, 2014 with family by his side. Raised in the meadows of Philadelphia, he attended Bartram High School before enlisting in the Navy and serving in WWII. He worked as a maintenance mechanic many years in the sugar refineries, at Scott Paper and then at the Navy Yard. Larry and his wife, Alice, raised 4 children, and he retired when the opportunity to babysit a grandson came along. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He faithfully helped Alice with the Episcopal Church Women's ministry luncheons (ECW). Survivors: 3 children: Wayne Ryback, Carol Milk (Chuck), Lauren Bradley; niece Mildred Kulzer (Michael); sister Jane and brother Stanley; grandchildren, Jim and John A., Megan, Amber, Heather, Hillary and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Alice, sister Josephine, son John and grandson John M. Arrangements: Visitation: Saturday the 4th of October, 9-10:15 a.m. at Cavanagh Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. Service to follow 11:00 at St. James Church of Kingsessing, 6838 Woodland Ave., Phila. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery.
