A. James Grant

1952-2016 A. James “Jim” Grant III, age 63 of Wilmington DE died suddenly on January 26th 2016 surrounded by his family at St Francis Hospital. Born to the late Alfred and Eleanor (Buley) Grant Jr., he has resided in Wilmington DE for the past 23 years and previously in Media PA. Jim was a beloved principal in the Brandywine School District and an active member of the Washington Masonic Lodge #1. A friend to all, he would literally give you the shirt off his back. Jim practiced random acts of kindness and endeared himself to everyone he met with his infectious smile, quirky sense of humor and an endless supply of kindness. Jim had a passion for boating, fishing, reading, gardening and traveling with his wife. “Poppy” was a true family man, most especially for his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cindy Battan Grant, his children Jamie (Sara) Grant, and Caitlin (Brian) Schranz, and his grandchildren, Ewan, Finn, Cormac, Will, Claire and Jack, a sister Barbara Cotlar and brother Dan Grant. His visitation will be held on Sunday, January 31 2016 from 9-11am at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd Garnet Valley PA, followed by Masonic services at 11am. Donations in his memory may be made to the YMCA of Delaware or Autism Delaware.
