Victor L. Centers, 55, of Ashley, passed away Saturday morning (Feb. 9, 2013) at Kobacker House in Columbus.
He was born April 9, 1957, in Columbus, to the late Everett and Goldie (Horsley) Centers. He was a graduate of Hamilton Township High School. He had been a resident of Ashley for the past 28 years. With his magnetic personality, Victor was a gifted salesman. He was a top car salesman for the Hatfield Hyundai and Subaru dealership in Columbus, and a proud recipient of the top salesman of the year award. He loved people and cars. Selling was never his job, which is what attributed to his success. He was a member of St. Mary Church and a constant joker at heart. Everyone was a friend - if not, you soon became one. He was a fan of NASCAR and the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed four-wheeling. Boating and spending time with his family were his passions, especially on the waters of Lake Cumberland. He was simply a good guy who was happiest boating, or as he would say "bangin' waves and takin' hot laps."
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved "Hun" of 28 years, Yvette (Colpaert); a son, Adam (Darcie) Centers of Delaware; a daughter, Victoria Centers of Ashley; a brother, Van Centers of Indiana; a brother-in-law, Gary Dyke of Dublin; a niece, Alisha (Rob) Carpenter of Dublin; great-niece and great-nephew, Ashley and Austin; father-in-law, Raymond Colpaert of Michigan; and a treasure trove of friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Hugh Schmeltzer; a brother, Rex; a sister, Betty Dyke; and mother-in-law, Josephine Colpaert.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with 4 p.m. prayer services at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church, Delaware, with the Rev. Fr. James Black as celebrant. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kobacker House or St. Mary Church.
The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Centers family. Condolences may be expressed and memories may be shared at snyderfuneralhomes.com.
