MARENGO - Betty Lee (Adkins) Smith, 83, of Marengo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Jan. 23, 2014, at Wintersong Nursing Home.
Betty was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in Lincoln County, West Virginia to the late John and Ella Adkins. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family and watching all her grandchildren grow up. Betty loved gardening, working on the farm, crossword puzzles, making beaded necklaces and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was retired from Ranco. Betty's loving heart, open arms and joyful giggle will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Smith of 57 years; siblings: Roy, Bobby and Annie; grandson Matthew, and great-great- granddaughter Brianna.
Betty is survived by her children Sandy Ross, Claude (Cindy), Steve, Larry Gene (Alita), John (Judy), David (Melinda) and Tina Hurley; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, her siblings: Madeline, Billy, Carolyn, Linda, Gay, and many other family members.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Given Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, Ohio from 1-2 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. service. Burial will follow at Coshocton Memory Gardens. Contributions in Betty's name may be made to Hospice, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Sandy and family, so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a really sweet lady. I know all of you will miss her dearly. Prayers are with you and my heart goes out to all of you.
