C. Edward Steck

C. Edward Steck, 64, of Delaware died unexpectedly Friday (April 26, 2013) surrounded by his family at Riverside Hospital.
He was born in Delaware on Feb. 22, 1949, to the late Carl H. Steck and Mary (Puttick) Steck of Delaware. A graduate of Delaware Hayes High School in 1967, he was lifelong area resident.
His father introduced him to a young waitress; Karen (Noseworthy) at the former Crack Pot Drive-In in Delaware. They were married in 1966 and together experienced both the joys and trials of life, especially after he suffered a major heart attack in 1999 at the young age of 49.
Prior to his illness Ed operated Steck Painting for 32 years and then worked with Morgan Decorating. A handyman in his younger years, he was a sports memorabilia enthusiast and also operated K&E's and Worthington Sports Card Shops.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles; especially BSA's, antiquing, and collecting metal model cars and tractors. Described as a big teddy bear, he was easy going and always looked for an opportunity to debate politics.
As one who took after his father, he was an extreme conversationalist. Never at a loss for words, he constantly looked for the humor of life and tried to add his own. He was a true gentle giant.
Family always came first with Ed, he treasured each family member, supporting and attending each child's activities. Sunday family dinners and vacations were always special and when the best of times were shared. His ornery smile and the twinkle in his blue eyes will long be remembered.
Survived by his loving wife of 46 years: Karen (Noseworthy), and was a dedicated father to Heidi (Kevin) Green, Mary Beth Steck (Kevin Ray), Scott A. Steck (Molly Miller), grandfather to: Haley, Austin, Maison, Scottie, Ty, and Bailey.
He is also survived by his mother Mary Steck, brothers and sisters: Scott (Debbie) Steck, Sue Steck, Sandy VanGundy, Tim (Rochelle) Steck, brother-in-laws: Harry Swope, Bill Mills, sister-in-law: Deena Steck, parents-in-law: Florence (Bartlett) Noseworthy, Allan Noseworthy and companion Harriett Person, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.
Preceded by his father: Carl H. Steck on Nov. 14, 2006; brother: Forrest J. "Dike" Steck on May 11, 2010; sisters: Judy Swope on March 30, 2009, and Linda Mills on June 26, 2009; grandparents: Forrest W. and Emma (Kline) Steck and James and Mary (Wilson) Puttick Sr.; Brother-in-law: Peter S.
