Master Sgt James Edward Thomas(1922 - 2013)

Master Sgt. James Edward Thomas (U.S. Army, retired), 90, of Delaware, passed away Sunday afternoon (Feb. 17, 2013) at his residence.
He was born June 4, 1922, in Jerome. He was a U.S. Army veteran for 29 years, having served in WWII with Co. A 119th Infantry, 30th Division "Old Hickory" in Central Europe (Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes). He was a skilled craftsman and an avid camper.
He is survived by loving children, Loretta (Dwayne) Gardner of Delaware, Sharon (Gary) Huff of Delaware and Steven (Karen) Thomas of Marion; grandchildren, Jeff (Adria) Warwick, Wendy (Kassie) Westwick, Stanya (Dave) Doty, Mellany (Parnell) Kelly and Robert Thomas; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Iona Johnston and Wanetta (Carl) Clements.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. & Flora E. (Draught) Thomas; a brother, Lester Thomas; sisters. Wilma Groves and Mabel Sherfry.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (Ohio 161W), Plain City, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, with the Rev. Phil Conrad officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the US Army.
