James Victor Pliickebaum

Retired Fire Chief James Victor Pliickebaum, 80, of Delaware passed away Friday morning Aug. 30, 2013, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Delaware to Jerome A. and Rachel (McKenzie) Pliickebaum.
Jim was a graduate of St. Mary High School and later served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. He was a member and later retired from the Delaware City Fire Department, serving as chief from 1980 - 1985. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware and a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program through the Council for Older Adults.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jerilee Pliickebaum-Keyer and husband Michael Keyer of Medway, Ohio; sons, Joseph Pliickebaum of Charlotte, NC and James Colbert Pliickebaum of Kansas; two grandchildren, Zachary and Madeline Keyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice in 1985, and a brother Jerry Pliickebaum.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday Sept. 3 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware (Note: The family will NOT be present for the calling hours). Memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Sept 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Rev. Fr. Michael Watson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
