Lassie (Cordial) Gale, 82 of Dover, Ohio, and formerly of Delaware, passed away Friday (Dec. 7, 2012) at the Community House Hospice in New Philadelphia surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
She was born on May 15, 1930 in Johnston County, Ky., to the late Elijah and Eva (Caudill) Cordial and moved to Delaware in 1946 from Paintsville, Ky. Lassie retired from Sunray Stove Company in 1992 and made her home in Delaware until this past July. With a passion for growing things, she enjoyed time spent in her beautiful flower gardens. Lassie treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Lassie will be sadly missed by her family, including her daughter, Frankie Carole Barger (Rick); son, Robert Warren Gale (Candy); sisters, Rita Dennis, Dorothy Rayburn, Charlotte Cordial (Ed Wachsman). She will also be dearly missed by her many grandchildren, including Kerry Ann (Barger) Brown (John Michael), Nicholas Alexander Barger, Christopher Gale (Nicole), Sarah (Gale) Bersdofer (David), D.J. Saunders, and Erica Latona Gale; as well as eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Billy, in 1979; and sisters, Janet Sullivan, Opal Cordial, Garnet Lawrence and Juanita (Robert) Gruber.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
