Lois V. (Myers) Crist(1930 - 2012)

Lois V. Crist, 82, of Ashley, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012) at Grady Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1930, in Columbus to the late Stanley and Erma (Baumgardner) Myers. Lois lived the majority of her life in the Ashley area, with the exception of 20 years spent in Las Vegas, where she worked as a casino change cashier. She loved to play the nickel slots and when she worked at the Landmark and Holiday Casino's, she dressed the part complete with western boots and Stetson hat.
A founding member of the White Lily Church in Ashley, the church activity was her motivation for living. With a purpose, she volunteered in numerous ways, including manning the steam table for the Wednesday night dinners. Elephants became her trademarks, her good deeds and kind gestures were returned with elephant gifts from friends, which created a collection of more than 300.
Precious and kind, she was adored by all. At times ornery, she was always positive and generous. She gave anonymously and was an inspiration to her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Tackett of Ashley; son, Mike (Amy) Bonnette of Baltimore; grandchildren, Stacy, Chad, Jason and Valarie; great-grandchildren, Shane, Griffin, Corbin and Sierra; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Peggy Bonnette and Charmaine Clevenger; and sister, Melba Bennett.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the White Liley Chapel in Ashley with the Rev. Cindy Berkshire officiating.
Contributions can be made to the White Liley Chapel.
