Lucian Smith

ASHLEY - Lucian Smith, 32 of Ashley, Ohio, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Grant Medical Center. In death he shared the gift of life through organ donation, saving the lives of six others.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1981, in Orange Park, Florida. A graduate of Delaware Hayes High School in 2000, he then entered the U.S. Navy. He proudly served on the carriers USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, Abraham Lincoln, and Roosevelt during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom from 2001 to 2007.
Working as a team leader, he was employed by the Domtar Corporation in Delaware since 2008. A movie buff, he enjoyed reading, and especially fishing. Always quick witted, he was a true prankster at heart, who sought the funny side of life. Described as hilarious he was loyal to all. Patient and forgiving, those qualities helped him in his passion for writing.
A proud father, he treasured time spent with his daughter. He was at his best spending time with her taking photos or just enjoying the moment.
Those left to cherish his memory include his precious daughter Raimey Smith, her mother and girlfriend Geriann Miller, parents Beth (Butch) Rice of Ashley and Bill (Susie) Smith of Bryceville, Florida, sisters Susie (Tim) Rick of Ashley, Nikita (James) Compton of Ashley, Makayla Smith of Bryceville, Fla., grandparents: Susann Armbruster of Hilliard, Fla., Warner (Kathy) Armbruster of Marathon, Fla., Lois Rice of Delaware, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Wilbur (Eunice) Smith and Edgar Rice.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware, where services will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Donnie Akers officiating.
