Orland Oren

OSTRANDER - Orland H. "Onie" Oren, 94, of Ostrander, died Monday May 5, 2014, in the Carriage Court of Marysville.

He was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Morrow to Meander and Melvia (Doughman) Oren.

He is survived by his wife Donna; a daughter, Kimberly Fisher; a grandson, Michael Fisher; stepson, Dennis (Kathy) Gates; stepgrandsons, David and Daniel Gates; four stepgreat-grandchildren, a sister, Melvia (Irvin) Barber; brothers in law, Harold (Karyl) Miller; Don (Bonnie) Miller; sister in law, Nancy Cox and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Evelyn Reynolds Oren, brothers, Virgil, George and Herbert "Chick," sisters, Florence, Inez, Mary, Etta, Viola and Kate. He is sadly missed by his special little companion, Josie, many friends and family members.

He was always a very special person, always a gentleman, kind, caring, generous and helpful with many, many talents, a private pilot who could fix anything especially if it had wheels. He worked in construction nationwide and in Panama. He managed Owen Stone Quarry for many years. He did not have hobbies as he was too busy being a workaholic. He was able to enjoy his life dream to prospect in the Yukon Territory of Canada for many years after his retirement at age 72. To know him was to love and admire him. We all feel blessed. He proudly served his country during WW II in the 44th Division of the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bill Byers officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
