Thelma Buckley


DELAWARE — Thelma Maxine Buckley, 82, of Delaware, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Perry County to William and Thelma (McGrew) Yarger.

She graduated from Rosary High School in Columbus and attended St. Mary of the Springs College.

She was a bookkeeper for Sacred Heart Church in Columbus.

A resident of Delaware since 1965, Maxine was formerly employed at Denison Engineering, faithfully employed at the St. Mary Rectory for more than thirty years and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Maxine is survived by two daughters, Mary (Don) Piatt of Waldo and Amy Buckley of Delaware; two sons, John (Nancy) and Tim (Michele), both of Delaware; nine grandchildren and many more that she loved like grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Yarnell of Columbus, Eileen (Joe) Yuhasz of Columbus and Jean (Larry) Melius of Okla.; and many precious nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. in 2000; three brothers, William, Gerald and Vincent Yarger; and a sister, Edith Millet.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Watson as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
