SUNBURY — Ryan Shawn Chanley, 40, of Sunbury, died Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016 at the Kobacker House with his family at his side.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1976 in Marysville, Ohio. He was a U.S. Postal Carrier at the Delaware Office and a more recent supervisor at the Westerville McCorkle Road Office. He was a steward in the U.S. Postal/Carrier Union and had worked 14 years for the post office. Prior to that he was in the U.S. Army Infantry and served for four years.
Ryan was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and supported his wife in her charitable works with the Columbus Chrome Divas whose mission was to find a cure for breast cancer. Ryan will be remembered for his strong support of his fellow workers, his sense of outrageous humor and his love of family, home and country.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Melinda (Archer) Chanley; son, Gage Alexander Chanley; mother, Barbara (Mark) Spangler; brother, Heith Aaron Chanley; step-siblings, Steven (Bobbie Ann) Spangler, Philip Spangler, Colleen Spangler; mother-in-law, Sybille Hall; brother-in-law, Michael (Tiffany) Hall; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He would want mentioned that he had many friends that were his family with a special mention of Larry (Diane) Dean and family of Marysville and his best friend Chad Dean, a lifetime of friendship turned them into brothers.
Preceded in death by grandparents, Cletus and Nellie Todd of Marysville.
Friends may call Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, State Route 3 at 637 Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with Military Honors following the service.
