James ‘Jim’ E. Hursey

James "Jim" E. Hursey, 78, of Ashley, Ohio, passed away on Monday July 22, 2013, after an extended illness.
James was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Delaware to Edward and Jane (Foote) Hursey. He graduated from Willis High School.
He married Mary Alice Dalton on July 24, 1955, and together they raised a family of six children.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1957 and served two years in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was honorably discharged in February 1959, achieving the rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
James worked as a Manager for Standard Oil of Ohio (SOHIO) / BP for 35 years. He was an avid bird watcher and sports fan and loved to watch the "Big Red Machine," Indians and Browns and of course any of The Ohio State University's sports team.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary, 6 children: James, Glenn, Tina (Lynn), Cathy, Chris and Doug, 3 brothers: Aaron (Barb), Daniel and Glenn (Clara), grandson Thomas Cockrell, numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Jane (Foote) Hursey.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Ashley Union Cemetery with Rev. Charles E. Wilson Jr. officiating. Arrangements by Robinson Funeral Home.
