Janice P. "Jan" MacKenzie Teller, 80, of Delaware, died unexpectedly Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2013) at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.

A homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will affectionately be remembered as a devoted and gracious minister's wife, serving Methodist churches throughout her marriage in Ada, Tipp City, Delaware (William St. church), Dayton, Springfield, Findlay and Marysville. She was proud of growing up on Martha's Vineyard Island, Mass., where she graduated from high school. A 1954 graduate of Harvard University, she received a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was a master's degree graduate in Christian Education from Boston University in 1957. She served as the Director of Christian Education at Trinity Methodist Church in Columbus from 1957 to 1960. During this time, she met her husband. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter EA. She enjoyed sewing and designed and fabricated her own line of clothing fashions while she resided in Springfield and Findlay. She also was manager of a Findlay gift shoppe, "Sign of the Bell." During their retirement years, she and her husband moved to Marysville in 1994 where she became active at Marysville First United Methodist Church and for many years taught a women's Bible class. She was born July 26, 1932, on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., to the late Clyde L. and Ruth Guilford MacKenzie.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, the Rev. A. Richard "Dick" Teller of Delaware, whom she married Dec. 18, 1960, at Trinity Methodist Church in Columbus; her daughter, Catherine (Peter) Malone of Milton, Mass.; her son, Dr. Timothy (Dr. Grace Ryu) Teller of Hilliard; her stepson, Richard E. (Cheryl) Teller and family of Bealeton, Va.; five grandchildren, Charlotte Malone, Samuel Teller, Ian Malone, Adam Teller and Noah Teller; her brother, Clyde MacKenzie of New Jersey; and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Marysville First United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends following the service at a dinner in the church's Burnside Family Life Center. The Rev. Aaron Brown and the Rev. Carrie Given will officiate. Private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marysville First United Methodist Church memorial fund. Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville is in charge of arrangements.
