Eleanor Lacher Hawk, 93, of Columbus, passed peacefully on Sunday (Jan. 6, 2013) at Riverside Hospital.
For most of her life she lived in a home on Olentangy River Road that had been in her family since 1806. She graduated from Powell High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan and Ohio State University where she met her husband of 71 years, Roger Hawk. In addition to lifetime involvement in many church and civic activities, for 20 years she served as the treasurer of the Olentangy School District. After retirement, she helped to establish and served as first president of the Powell-Liberty Historical Society.
In addition to her husband Roger she is survived by two children, Cynthia and Tom; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alice Lacher; and four brothers, Harold, Robert, George and James.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St. (Powell Road/Ohio 750/one-fourth mile east of Sawmill Pkwy) Powell, where a service will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Mabry will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
