DELAWARE - Harry A. "Al" Hines, 88, of Delaware passed away early Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Wintersong Village in Delaware.

He was born on Jan. 21, 1925, in Otway, Ohio, one of 9 children born to the late Edward and Myrtle (McDonough) Hines. A lifelong farmer, he raised hay and Hereford cattle. Over the years he also worked as a Columbus Dispatch distributor and was a Delaware County Special Deputy Sheriff. Al was at his best home working on the farm, tending to the daily chores.

He is survived by brother Jack Hines of Delaware, sister Virginia (Paul) Miller of Delaware, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers Fred M., Earl D., Edward J., Stuart S., and Raymond T. Hines, and sister Gladys M. Hines.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1-2 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware where services will follow 2 p.m. on Sunday with Rev. Wallace White officiating. Burial will follow Monday in Oak Grove Cemetery.
