Jerry Simpson, 73, of Sunbury, died Wednesday morning (Jan. 2, 2013) at Laurels of Norworth in Worthington.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1939, in Cleveland to the late Horace Simpson and Wilma Mary (Alden) Smith. He was a graduate of Lakewood St. Edwards High School, a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired PBX Installer for AT&T. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, K of C and the Men's Club at the church.
Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren, reading, watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
He is survived by sons, Ray (Jill) of Columbus, Greg (Amy) of Manassas, Va., and James (Maria) New Albany; daughter, Kathy (Jay) Weaver of Stein, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Michelle Simpson of New Albany; and grandchildren, Erika, Nathan, Noah, Gabe, Alana, Kenneth and Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Mertz) Simpson on March 16, 2006, and son, Eric Simpson on Feb. 16, 2012.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. David Sizemore Celebrant. Inurnment will be in Sunbury Memorial Park.
