M. Katherine Lowe, 88, of Delaware, passed away Saturday morning (Jan. 12, 2013) at the Wintersong Village Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Delaware, to Charles T. and Hazel (Scofield) James. She was food service supervisor for Scioto Village and later was co-owner and bookkeeper for Delaware Tractor Sales. As a lifetime Delaware resident, she was instrumental in participating in the founding of the Delaware Airport and was a former member of the Rebekkah Lodge in Warrensburg. She enjoyed rock collecting, traveling, and playing the piano. She also loved animals and laughing. Everyone knew her as "Grandma Katie" or "Aunt Katherine."
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Gary Lowe and his wife, Terry, of Delaware; daughter-in-law, Jane Lowe Lambert of Marblehead; grandchildren, Renee Grooms and her husband David of Logan, Amy Lowe of Delaware, Kathy Lowe Shiplett of Milford and Eric Lowe of Columbus; sister, Dorothy Nist of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Orville R. Lowe; a brother, Clifford; and two sisters, Cleo and Marguerite.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at a later date in Radnor Cemetery.
