Mrs. Marlie Powell, of South Hill Street Road in Red Springs, N.C., died Saturday (Nov. 24, 2012) in Southeastern Hospice House at the age of 87.
Mrs. Powell was born in Chenoa County, Ky., on Jan. 17, 1925, to the late James Patrick Partin and Lillie Mae Owens Partin.
Survivors are daughters, Marlene Powell and her husband Gordon Snead of Red Springs, Barbara Dowalter of Delaware; son, Garry Powell; sisters, Anne Day of Harriman, Tenn., Lucille Nibert of Delaware, and Louise Worthing and her husband Cloyse of Delaware; brother, Floyd Partin of Columbus; sister-in-law, Ruth Gillfillan of LaFollette, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Powell, Steven Bradley, Laura Bradley, Robert Dowalter and Krysta Dowalter; 10 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Ward Emerson Powell; son, Ricky Allen Powell; sisters, Norah P. Standridge, Lorena Peace and Leona Partin; brothers, A.E. Partin, James Partin, Eugene Partin and Alva Partin; three half-brothers, Oakley Thacker, Estil Thacker and Clayborn Partin; and half-sister, Grace Partin Lial.
Services will be held at a later date in Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358; or a lung cancer charity of your choice.
