ASHLEY - Martha J. Adams, 91, of Ashley, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at the Arbors of Delaware.
She was born May 16, 1922, in Delaware to Guy and Rebecca (Edwards) Crump. She graduated from Ashley High School in 1940 and on Nov. 1, 1942, she married her childhood sweetheart, William C. Adams. She was a bookkeeper at Bryant Lumber for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of West Oxford Ashley United Methodist Church and a 60-year member of OES. She was also a member of the Oxford Garden Club, West Oxford Circle, Justamere Club, Ashley and Waldo Senior Citizens, the Ashley Elm Valley Association and served a term on the Oxford Township Zoning Board of Appeals.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jenny Adams of Delaware; four grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Barrett, Bryan Adams, Becky Adams and Jim Adams all of Delaware and two great-grandchildren including Kaitlyn Barrett; many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill in 1999, daughter Becky Larson in 1989, son Dan in 1997, two sisters, Ada Logue and Betty Jo Axthelm, a daughter-in-law Trina Adams, a son-in-law Darrel Larson and a sister-in-law Kathryn Simpkins.
According to her wishes there will be a graveside service Monday at 2 p.m. at the Ashley Union Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. There will not be a meal following the graveside service. Arrangements are in charge of Robinson Funeral Home.
