Meredith "J.R." Haines, 82, of Shawnee Hills, passed away Thursday (March 14, 2013) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The son of the late Meredith Sr. and Hinda P. (Swanson) Haines, he was born on Sept. 8, 1930, in Hillsboro. He moved to the Shawnee Hills area 32 year ago from Dayton. J.R. retired as a mixer with the Wonder Bread Company.
A devoted member of the Highpoint Nazarene Church, he was a kind caring man. Friendly in nature, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and in his words "loafing around." Over the years, he provided well for his family and was not only a good man, but a better husband.
Cutting grass, tilling the garden and serving the Lord brought him great joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Cinderella "Cindy" (Johnson); sons: Earl Haines of Beaver Creek, Danny L. Haines of Dayton, James E. (Cindy) Haines of Huber Heights; daughters: Cathy L. Hortshorn of Beaver Creek, Belinda C. (Kyle) Hansard of Andersonville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Pauline Haines of Green Bay, Wis.
He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Holly Lee.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at the Highpoint Nazarene Church, 795 Pollock Road, Delaware, OH 43015, with Pastor Kevin Seymore officiating.
