LIMA - Randy Lee Herriott, 65, passed away suddenly while visiting his son on March 11, 2014 in Pittsburgh, Pa., 11:50 am.

Randy was born June 20, 1948 in Delaware, OH, to Robert and Mary (Geary) Herriott who preceded him in death. On Jan. 24, 1970 he married Darlene Humphreys Herriott who survives in Lima.

In 1966 Randy graduated from the Buckeye Valley High School. After high school he attended the Hobart Welding School and then took a position as a welder with Stomdale Industries, Lima for five years. Randy then was hired in at the Lima Ford Engine Plant as a maintenance welder where he worked for 33 years retiring in 2005. Randy had been the past president of the Bath Parents Sports Club. He was very involved in the athletics department at Bath High School and was a former coach of both the Bath Jr. High and High School baseball teams and assisted several classes of boys and girls in hitting instruction. Randy was an avid golfer and loved visiting several different major league baseball stadiums and had seen all but seven. Randy will be remembered as a great husband, father and coach; but not always in that order. He had a reputation of having never met a stranger and would always make time for anyone needing it.

Randy is survived by a son; Brandon Lee Herriott of Pittsburgh, PA, 3 Brothers; Rodney (Elaine) Herriott of Ostrander, OH, Rex (Donna) Herriott of Ostrander, OH and Reggie (Cherri) Herriott of Freemont, IN. Funeral services will be at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremations Services Shawnee Chapel, Lima, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Doug Adams..
