Raymond Eugene "Gene" Sisson, 75, went to be with the Lord on Monday (Dec. 31, 2012).
He was born on Feb. 21, 1937 in Radnor. He joined the U.S. Navy on Dec. 1, 1957, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1963. He was a member of Briggs Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching and feeding his many birds and squirrels.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Florence; children, Deborah (Randy) Boldman and Ed (Jody) Sisson; grandchildren, Cody, Jeremy and Amanda; brother, Donald (Wanda) Sisson; sister, Ruth Ann (Charlie) Mason; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by other children, Vicki Long, Joyce Flanagan, Randy Long, Steve Long and Gary Long; 11 other grandchildren; and six other great-grandchildren whom he loved as his own.
He was preceded in death by parents, Warren and Helen Sisson; stepfather, Clarence Sisson; and brothers, Robert Sisson, James Sisson and Eddie Sisson.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. at Briggs Road Baptist Church, 3231 Briggs Road, Columbus, OH 43204 with the Rev. Ronald Hopkins officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Radnor Cemetery, located at the corner of Radnor Road and Ohio 203 in Delaware County. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 614-875-6333.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Briggs Road Baptist Church.
