KEARNEY, MO. - Ruth K. Plogher, 92, a resident of Kearney, Mo., formerly of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Liberty Hospital located in Liberty, Mo.
Ruth was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of Darwin and Blanche (Smith) Rowland. She lived in Mt. Gilead from 1962 through 2009. Ruth and her husband Bill operated the Freeway Inn Restaurant and truck stop at State Route 95 and Interstate 71 for many years. She enjoyed quilting in her retirement years. She will be missed by her four children and their spouses: a daughter and son in-law, Sue (David) Schmidt of Bellevue, Ohio, three sons and daughters in-law, James (Jane) Plogher of Chesterville, Ohio, Thomas (Donna) Plogher of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and Wray (Mavis) Plogher of Kearney, Mo.; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William F. Plogher, she was preceded in death by her parents Darwin and Blanche Rowland and her siblings Addie Bell Bradrick, Mary Helen Rowland, John Rowland, and Paul Rowland.
Ruth's family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead. A graveside service honoring her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the Ashley Union Cemetery with Pastor Brent Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Hospital Hospice, 2525 Glenn Hendren Dr., Liberty, MO 64068.
