DUBLIN - George Harold Woerner, 81, of Dublin (Jerome) passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.

Retired from IBM after 37 years of service. U.S. Navy veteran 1950-1953 served in the Korean War. Active lifetime member of Jerome United Methodist Church. Sunday School teacher for 22 years.

Volunteered for the New Mexico McCurdy School for over 10 years. Was a craftsman of many trades which enabled him to build the homes where they resided. Valedictorian of his New California High School Class of 1951. Preceded in death by parents: John George and Goldie (Mitchell) Woerner; sister: Evelyn Woerner; sisters-in-law: Irene Woerner, Dolly Christian; brother-in-law: George Windle.

Survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Alta Ann (Fowler) Woerner, whom he married in the Jerome United Methodist Church; sons: John "Rusty" (Terry) Woerner of Plain City, Wade (Sheri) Woerner of Sunbury, Therron Woerner of Anchorage, Alaska; 4 grandchildren: Luke, Joe, Tatum, Curtis; brother: John C. Woerner of Dublin; sister: Mary Windle of Dublin; brother-in-law: Dennis Christian of Delaware.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2 – 5 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (Rt. 161W), Plain City. Funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Jerome United Methodist Church, 10531 Jerome Rd., Plain City with Pastors David Cady and Roger Gorden officiating. Burial Jerome Township Cemetery with the Union County Honor Guard conducting full military honors.
