DELAWARE — John Gilbert Crosbie, 68, of Delaware passed away early Sunday morning, Aug. 17, 2014 at the Kobacker House in Columbus surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 1, 1946 in Columbus, to the late J. Gilbert Crosbie and Mary M. (McNamara) Crosbie.

He graduated from St. Mary High School in 1964 and attended Franklin University. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. John was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware, American Legion Post No. 457 of Sunbury, AmVets Post No. 102 of Delaware and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter No. 1095 of Delaware County. He was a former Bailiff for the Delaware Municipal Court, former Scioto Township Trustee and Scioto Township Fire Department volunteer and former branch manager of the Delaware County Bank in Ostrander. He was a volunteer for Habitat Restore and American Red Cross of Delaware, Preservation Parks and a member of the Delaware County Veterans Association Honor Guard.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 17 years, Sharon (O'Kelley) Crosbie; son, Shawn M. (Trina) Crosbie of Columbus; daughter, Kelly M. (Jason) Dew of Delaware; stepson, Kent (Kerith) Wheeler of Tallmadge, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Haley, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Kelcey, Gavin, Jonah, Kortney and Sydney; brothers, Jim (Macile Bargdill) Crosbie of Ashley and Mike (Stephanie) Crosbie of Oxford, Mississippi; sisters, Margaret (Les) Peck of Richwood, Pat Petzinger of Marysville and Ann (Dr. Dan) Beaver of Salem, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a special thank you to Heather Nelson Patrick for her care and concern during this difficult time.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, with Rev. Fr. Michael Watson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center Community Room, 1510 W. William St., Delaware.
