Lillian Marie (Curtis) Chaffin (1927 - 2012)

Lillian Marie Chaffin, 85, of Delaware, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday (Nov. 15, 2012).
She was born on Feb. 26, 1927, in Marion to the late Stanley and Dorothy (Morton) Curtis. She spent most of her life in Delaware where she met Leonard Chaffin. They later married in Inez, Ky., on Nov. 4, 1946. On Nov. 4, 2012, Lillian and Leonard celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary at the Community Nursing Home where she resided for the last five years.
Known to her brothers and sisters by the name "Sister," she helped raise them while growing up at home; she retired from Ranco after working for them for 40 years in Columbus and Delaware. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, and making unusual treats that her kids and grandchildren all enjoyed and will always remember.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Leonard of 66 years who took great care of her before going to the Community nursing home; daughters, Carolyn Sue (Tom) Wells of Radnor and Debbie (Richard) Aleshire of Delaware; a son, Steve (Diane) Chaffin of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica Aleshire, Brian Aleshire, Rachael (David) Wells, Kristen Hite and Stacie (Eric) Lawhon; five great-grandchildren, Chase, Lilian, Audry, Levi and Cody; three sisters, Marylyn Simpkins, Norma (Dale) Roof and Joyce (Cecil) Milum; a brother, Merle (Margaret) Curtis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen, Donna, Jean and Evelyn; and brothers, Bob, Leonard, Ronald, Charles and Benard.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. Delaware. funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center with burial following in the Radnor Cemetery.
The family would also like to think the Community Nursing Home and Acclaim Hospice for the exceptional care of our beloved Lillian. They have given our family a great comfort knowing that Lillian was in such great hands and that we didn't have to worry.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215).
