Pequegnat, Marina Lynn - La Jolla  
La Jolla Marina Lynn Pequegnat, age 56, of La Jolla, CA, died on September 18, 2015, of kidney failure. She is the daughter of Dr. Linda H. Pequegnat of La Jolla and Dr. Willis E. Pequegnat (deceased). She is the granddaughter of Virginia Lee Arnold of La Jolla, CA, (deceased) who was Assistant Foreign Student Advisor at the University of California San Diego during the 1960s.Marina was born on October 24, 1958, in Orange County, CA. She grew up in Bryan-College Station, Texas, when her parents worked in the Oceanography Department at Texas A&M University. She graduated from Bryan High School in 1976. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in Austin with a major in French. Her first job after college was in Paris, France, where she worked for a Public Relations firm doing promotional work for the companies who sponsored cars in the Grand Prix Races, during which time she traveled all over France to the locations where the Grand Prix Races were being held. After France, Marina moved to La Jolla, CA, and for the last 19 years she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Scripps Health Administrative Offices.Her sudden death has left a vacant hole in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves her mother, Dr. Linda H. Pequegnat of La Jolla; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Paula Pequegnat of San Diego; former sister-in-law, Leslie Pequegnat of San Diego; and, although she had no children, she loved her nieces and nephews very much, Brie Pequegnat of Montgomery, Texas, Spencer Pequegnat attending the University of California Santa Cruz, Ryan Stahl working on a Master's degree at Pennsylvania State University, and Rachel Stahl attending Palomar College in San Diego. She is also survived by her step-sister, Dr. Willo Pequegnat of Bethesda, MD; step-brother, Dr. John Pequegnat of Fieldbrook, CA; step-niece, Alexandra (Tom) Skowronski of Silver Spring, MD; and step-nephew, Geoffrey White of Murrieta, CA. Marina is also survived by her best friend since third grade, Becky Harrison of Bryan, TX, who, although she is not a member of Marina's family, is loved as if she were.Marina will be buried at the El Camino Memorial Park Cemetery in San Diego, and a Memorial Service will be held for her at a later date.
