Terri L. Blanton passed away on September 27, 2012, after a nine year battle with breast cancer
. Terri was born November 6, 1952, in Milford, DE, to Vernon and Mildred Guerrazzi. She graduated from Christiana High School in Newark, DE, in 1970.
Her career included a four year tour as one of the first female Avionics Specialists in the USAF servicing F-15 fighters at Luke AFB, AZ, and Kadena AB, Okinawa. After her Honorable Discharge, she was selected as one of the first female FAA Aviation Safety Inspectors in the field of Avionics. Her assigned offices included Scottsdale, AZ, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, JFK Int'l Airport, Glen Burnie, MD, and Washington, D.C. She served in a variety of positions to include Principal Avionics Inspector, Geographic Program Manager, Airworthiness Supervisor, Int'l Aviation Safety Inspector, and Systems Auditor. While employed by the FAA, Terri earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University. Terri retired from the FAA in 2009 while residing in Rancho Bernardo.
As a resident of San Diego, Terri pursued her passion for golf, playing local courses, and joining the Bernardo Heights Country Club, of which she and her husband were members until she could no longer swing a club due to her illness and its treatment.
Terri is survived by her husband of fifteen years, Bob Blanton; her brother, Gene Guerrazzi and his wife, Cindy; sisters, Diane Guerrazzi and Sherri Zamichieli; and stepsons, Greg and Jason Blanton and their families.
Terri will be inurned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on October 17, 2012, at 10:30 am, to be followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm, which will be held at the Oaks North Community Center in Rancho Bernardo
