Arthur J. Purcell Jr., 90, passed away on November 17, 2012. Art was born on February 1, 1922, in Brooklyn, NY, to dedicated and loving parents, Arthur J. Sr. and Norah A. Purcell. He had three loving sisters, Jean, Ann and Kay, who all preceded him in death. His beloved daughter, Margaret S. Knight, passed away on March 12, 2011.|
Mr. Purcell served in the U.S. Army during World War II in General Patton's 3rd Army and received the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding service in France, Luxemburg and Germany.
Upon military discharge he reentered St. John's University in NY to complete his studies for his B.A. degree. He married Margaret Johnson after graduation from college. The last 25 years of Art's business career was spent as a United States Treasury Agent. He has lived in Rancho Bernardo for the last 16 years.
Art is survived by Margaret, his loving wife of 65 years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo.
