Ed Thompson, age 63, passed away February 28, 2013, at his home in Poway of pancreatic cancer. He was born in Kermit, TX, on May 9, 1949. |
Ed also lived in Colorado and finally California. While living in San Diego, he served on the USS Midway as an airplane mechanic and was deployed on two WestPac tours during the Vietnam War. Ed married his wife, Mary, on October 24, 1981. Their two daughters, Julie and Jennifer, soon followed and have become beautiful and talented women.
Ed was not only known for the love of his family, but also his dedication to his work at Qualcomm. He had an interest in history and learning and loved animals. Sports played a big role in Ed's life. He was an avid baseball fan, loved tennis on the court and as a spectator, was a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan and also coached soccer for the Poway Youth Soccer League.
Ed is survived by his loving wife; two daughters; sister, Charlene; brother, Malcolm; and many other loving family and friends. Ed now joins his other brothers, Ray, Roy, Ronnie and Fred, resting in peace.
A service was held on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Mt Olive Lutheran Church which was followed by a celebration of his life at the local home of a friend.
