Robert Warren Bremer Obituary
Bob Bremer passed away peacefully Monday, October 8, 2012, at Gate Manor of Poway, his loving home the past four years.
Bob was born August 2, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent his youth on the east coast, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942.
He served as a radio operator in the campaigns of New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Ryukus, Luzon and finished the war with the occupation of Japan, earning the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, World War 2 Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Upon returning home, Bob enlisted with the Merchant Marine as a radio operator, working mostly Liberty Ships returning personnel and war material from Europe. The 1950s brought Bob to Los Angeles. There he worked for the Rand Corp. Northrup Aviation and SDC Corp. where he met and married Barbara Parke in 1960.
Barbara had two small children, Pamela and John; later they added two of their own, Robert and Leslee. Around 1965 Bob took a job at Lockheed Ca. Co. where he held many positions retiring in 1985 as a Division Manager for the Space Shuttle program at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Bob loved nature and animals and passed this love onto his children. He became a Benefactor of the San Diego Zoological Society and would visit the Wild Animal Park whenever he could. He loved the Park!
Bob loved his kids, Pam, John, Rob and Leslee, and we have many wonderful and wacky memories of our adventures together.
As with many of our loved ones, Dementia slowly steals them away. Bob's stories and memories slipped away from him, but not us. Through this confusing time of change, John's wife, Phyllis, carried the impossible load of his financial and health care business needs, spending countless hours on the phone battling the many bureaucratic nightmares. This help allowed Rob to be by Bob's side most days, including his last.
The family would like to thank all those who loved and cared for our dad.
We love and miss you "Pops", God Speed.
