Walter Leon Davidovich, age 81, died at his home in Poway, CA, on July 14, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife, Eva, and their children.
He was born in New York City and was a resident of San Diego County for 47 years. "Dave" was a retired Senior Chief Gunners Mate who served 20 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard several U.S. Naval warships notably, the USS Helena and USS Topeka. He also saw service in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then served 30 years as a civil service ordnance technical expert for Naval Sea Center Pacific. After retiring, he enjoyed raising his grandchildren and traveling around the country visiting family and friends with his wife, Eva. He was an active member of the Santee VFW Post.
Dave is survived by Eva Davidovich of Poway, his wife of 59 years; his brother, William Davidovich of Nevada; six children, Walter Davidovich of New York, Michele Davidovich of Poway, Paul Davidovich of Colorado, Pamela Berrios of Patterson, CA, Nora Waterman of Julian, CA, and Keith Davidovich of Mississippi; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Poway on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, from 10:15 to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM, and a burial service at 1:30 PM at the Miramar National Cemetery.
