Rancho Bernardo resident Tom Chadwick, 71, passed away January 17, 2013, at the Silverado Senior Living Home in Escondido, CA, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Tom was born on March 8, 1941, in Bakersfield, CA, to Elizabeth and Howard Chadwick. Tom was raised in Coachella Valley until he left the desert for college. |
Tom received his BS in civil engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and continued on to earn a master's degree in environmental engineering at UC Davis. Tom spent over 35 years as a committed environmental engineer.
Tom and his wife, Janis, were married on August 28, 1971. They had three daughters, Amy, Wendy and Kimberly. He loved taking his family on camping trips and instilled a great love of the outdoors in all three of his children. An avid cyclist with a green thumb, Tom spent much of his free time going on long bike rides and tending to his yard and garden.
Tom was a dedicated engineer, loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janis; daughters, Amy (Justin) Renoud of Bend, OR, Wendy (Robert E.) Maurer of Flagstaff, AZ, and Kimberly Chadwick of Chico, CA; granddaughter, Cassidy Maurer; sister, Barbara (Todd) Hammond of Davis, CA; and brother, Dr. Arthur (Joy) Chadwick of Burleson, Texas.
Tom's memorial service will be held at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church on February 1, 2013, at 11:00 AM.
