Russell Parker Glasgow
SALISBURY—Russell Parker Glasgow, 83, of Salisbury died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at home peacefully after a short illness.
Born in Eden on April 27, 1929, he was the oldest son of the late Fred J. and Evelyn Beauchamp Glasgow. He was married to the late Dorothy Outten Glasgow for 54 years until her death in 2007.
Russell, known as "Bud" to many friends and relatives, was self-employed and proudly served his country in the Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was in the lumber and logging business throughout his life. He was also a lifelong farmer, raising truck crops to sell wholesale and at a produce market he and his wife operated on the farm, as well as grain and cattle in his early years and later "retired" back to the farm to raise poultry until 2010. He enjoyed riding in the country looking at crops and livestock in the fields, and taking his family out to dinner.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Gale Glasgow (Dean) Dashiell of Salisbury, Freddie (Jeanne) Glasgow of Eden and Rick (Flora) Glasgow of Salisbury. There are four grandchildren, Freddie Jr., Jason (Laura), Forrest and Wyatt Glasgow and one great-granddaughter, Seneca. He also had a special caregiver, Penny Glasgow. He is survived by a brother, Frederick Wayne "Joe" Glasgow.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Wilkins and Irene Dewey, and brothers, Alfred and Willard Glasgow.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. The Rev. Mark Massey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802 or the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Co., Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 70, Fruitland, Md.
