Salisbury-Alfred Meilhammer, 86, of Hebron, formerly of Salisbury, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Anchorage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury.
Born August 26, 1927 in Maple Plain Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John Meilhammer and Martha Market Meilhammer.
He served in the US Army during WWII
. For over fifty years, he owned and operated Meilhammer Electric where he serviced electrical motors. In addition to his company, he was a poultry farmer. In his early years, he was an avid deer hunter and always had a large garden where he shared his harvest with his family and the Joseph House.
He is survived by six daughters; Elaine Baumann of Salisbury, Cecilia Hales of Salisbury, Grace Prettyman of Salisbury, Catherine Melson of Salisbury, Elizabeth Beauchamp of Hebron, and Lisa Vickers of Sharptown; five sons, Steve Meilhammer of Salisbury, Joe Meilhammer of Salisbury, Tom Meilhammer of Salisbury, Kenny Meilhammer of Salisbury, and Jeff Meilhammer of Salisbury; thirty grandchildren; fifty five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Leo Meilhammer of Old Fort, North Carolina; a sister, Rose Mutchler of Salisbury; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Evelyn Meilhammer on July 11, 2010; five brothers and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
