Snow Hill—Alfred Waters, after a lingering illness, departed this life on November 19, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. He was born on May 22, 1923 in Snow Hill, MD to the late Howard and Nellie Mumford Waters.
Alfred, nicknamed "Bus," as most called him, began his employment working as an auto detailer for both Eddie Conway and Bradford Car Dealership in Snow Hill, MD. Later, he drove school bus part-time and also did various trucking jobs. Most remember Alfred as a foreman at Buddy Boys Poultry Plant in Snow Hill, MD. After that plant closing, Bus started his business, "Bus Car Wash," doing automotive servicing and detailing.
Alfred began his spiritual journey at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, MD. He became a member of the trustee board, usher board, and the Methodist Men.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Audrey Waters of Snow Hill, MD; one son, Alfred Waters of Snow Hill, MD; one stepdaughter, Edna Morton of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Edward (Barbara) Waters of Snow Hill, MD; five sisters, Lola Finney of Camden, NJ, Alice Martin of Camden, NJ, Rosalee (Gary) Samuels of Cherry Hill, NJ, Betty Ann Bishop of Snow Hill, MD, and Orneldo Carey of Snow Hill, MD; four brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; one stepson, Linwood Purnell; and one stepgrandson, Jamal Morton.
Mr. Waters will lie in repose on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, MD. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 PM. Rev. Thomas Fitchett will officate and Myrtle Morton will assist. Interment will be in the old section of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill, MD.
