Brian H. Farrelly

LAUREL-Brian H. Farrelly, 91, of Laurel, Del., passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Seaford Genesis Center. Brian was born in Nottingham, England, on June 18, 1922. He was a son of the late James and Edith Mary Farrelly. He graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1940 and later graduated from the Dover College.

Brian was an Ocean City Police officer for two years. He had also worked at the DuPont Co. for nine years, Campbell Soup in Salisbury for nine years, the town of Laurel public works as a supervisor for 13 years, Sussex County Dept. of Public Works for eight years and the town of Ocean City as an inspector for two years. He was a member of Shiloh Church in Laurel and was a good cook and was famous for making his homemade biscuits.

Mr. Farrelly is survived by his sons, Brian Edward Farrelly and wife, Virginia, Donald Wayne Farrelly, Michael Lee Farrelly and James Elwood Farrelly and wife, Kelly; a brother, Bruce J. Farrelly; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Mary Farrelly, in 2010.

A funeral service will be held at Shiloh Community Church on Shiloh Church Road in Laurel on Tuesday, Oct, 8, at 11 a.m., where a viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. The Revs. Mark Erskine and Chuck Reynolds will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
