SALISBURY— E. Augusta Heath, 91, formerly of Salisbury and Nanticoke, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Lima Estates in Media, Pa.

She was the daughter of the late Russell and Katie Heath of Nanticoke.

Ms. Heath graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1938, and Salisbury State Teachers College in 1942. While attending Salisbury State Teachers College, she was the first female graduate to be awarded the coveted Achievement Key for four consecutive years. She later received her masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She spent two years teaching in Anne Arundel County before a 35 year teaching career in the Upper Darby School District,Pennsylvania.

"Down Home" always applied to the community of Nanticoke where she grew up, attended church, and later becoming a trustee of the church in the community she loved.

Augusta is survived by her brother, Levin R. Heath Jr. and his wife, Grace of Bel Air, Md.; two nieces, Debra (Jim) Garland of Street, Md., Christi (Carl) Grieninger of Darlington, Md., a nephew Dr. David (Debbie) Heath of Bel Air, two great-nieces, two great-nephews ,two great-great nieces and a great-great nephew.

A funeral service will be held Saturday 2 p.m. at Messick Funeral Home on Nanticoke Road in Bivalve with inturment in Turners cemetery in Nanticoke.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
